Adobe® Illustrator® CS4 software is a comprehensive vector graphics environment tightly integrated with the Adobe Creative Suite® family of products, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Flash. Learn to create sophisticated vector artwork for print and web.

Good Windows or Mac OS skills plus successful use of one or two software programs.

  • Set up and save your workspace
  • Navigate efficiently within your document
  • Use the Help search, index, and contents to find needed information
  • Use the Zoom tool with a marquee
  • Make a selection with the Direct Selection tool, the Selection tool, and the Magic Wand
  • Align objects
  • Group and ungroup objects
  • Create shapes with the Shape tool, the Pencil tool, and Live Trace
  • Scale, reflect, distort and shear objects
  • Position objects precisely
  • Change the perspective
  • Use the New Blob Brush tool for natural sketching
  • Use the Pen tool to draw straight lines and different kinds of curves
  • Insert and change smooth and corner anchor points
  • Create and modify a curved path
  • Practice drawing a leaf and a pear
  • Apply fills and strokes using the Appearance panel
  • Use Illustrator Swatch libraries
  • Build and save your own custom color and spot color
  • Use Live Color to create a color group and apply colors to your artwork
  • Use, create, edit and apply patterns
  • Import a text file
  • Create columns
  • Thread text
  • Resize the text area
  • Change the font size, the color, and other text attributes
  • Change paragraph attributes
  • Create and use paragraph styles
  • Make your text an envelope object; modify the envelope to Warp text
  • Wrap text around a graphic
