Monitoring and Troubleshooting the Performance of a Windows Server Environment

Course Description/Agenda

Master the concepts that will allow you to minimize downtime and reduce waste of server resources. You will use key performance counters, such as Performance Monitor, Server Performance Monitor, and Windows Reliability and Performance Monitor, to analyze and troubleshoot the overall health of Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows 7 environments. You will learn the fundamentals of Windows architecture to be effective at diagnosing and resolving performance issues.

What You'll Learn

  • Use the key counters to analyze the most common performance issues
  • Manage data collector sets
  • Evaluate local vs. remote data collection
  • User mode vs. kernel mode
  • Operating-system RAM
  • Evaluate network utilization tools
  • Determine processor usage
  • Performance Analysis of Logs (PAL) and what Microsoft products it supports
  • Impact of Hyper-V on performance
